On the Balcony Everyday poetic observations Director: Ringo Ramul Authors: Indrek Koff, Ringo Ramul Set designer: Arthur Arula Music designer: Lauri Lüdimois (Ugala Theatre) Lighting designer: Ivar Piterskihh Cast: Liis Karpov, Carmen Mikiver, Ago Anderson, Sten Karpov, Tambet Seling, Andrus Vaarik The house is low, with a gabled roof. With a door and a window. With a chimney and smoke. Every child knows it; every child has drawn it hundreds, some even thousands of times. But what is that big, square thing with lots of windows? The one with balconies attached to it? On one balcony, sausages are being grilled. On another, people are kissing. Someone is shooting birds. Here, fish is drying. There, palm trees are growing. On this one, someone is crying so desperately they can hardly breathe. On one balcony, a wise man is giving a speech because he knows what he has to say. Someone has brought a screaming child out onto the balcony to calm down, even though it is only two degrees outside. One balcony has been left at the mercy of the elements and resembles a swan skeleton lying on the seashore. Someone has thrown sweaty clothes onto the balcony to dry. Someone is singing loudly. An old man often walks past the house. Very often, he stops and looks at one particular balcony. This is an everyday poetic production about a little person in a big, explosive world.
