Viljandi Kitarrifestival

Viljandi Guitar Festival brings together outstanding musicians from Estonia and abroad, with the aim of promoting improvisational and cross-genre guitar playing. At the festival, you can hear improvising guitarists representing different musical styles and learn about various improvisation techniques, playing techniques, and types of guitar. The event brings together guitarists from Estonia and abroad, while developing international cooperation and cooperation in guitar education, which is one of its most important aims. Workshops for students led by artists are also a very important part of the Viljandi Guitar Festival. Over the years, a tradition has developed whereby the first half of the festival week is dedicated to students invited from Estonian and various European higher education institutions, while the second half is dedicated to Estonian and international musicians. The program brings together jazz, classical music, world music, and improvisation. Intimate concerts take place, for example, at the Puppet Theatre, Kondas Centre, and Baptist Church, while larger concerts are held at the Pärimusmuusika Ait.
