Hana Korea
Pärnu Keskus Lai 5, Pärnu, 80011
Inspired by true events, “Hana Korea” tells the story of Hyesun, a young North Korean refugee who arrives in fast-paced, high-tech South Korea. She has reached freedom, but soon discovers that she must fight to survive here, too. The new society demands success, independence, and perfection, yet Hyesun carries with her the life, people, and painful memories she left behind in her homeland. As she tries to find her place in a world where everyone seems one step ahead of her, she must decide how much of herself she is willing to leave behind for a fresh start. Hyesun’s journey turns Korea’s division into a deeply personal story of freedom, loneliness, and the need to belong. Freedom is within reach—but its price may be harsher than she could have imagined. Does escaping the past truly mean finding refuge?
