Öölaps

Saga (Seidi Haarla) and John (Rupert Grint) move to a country house in the middle of the Finnish forests to offer their future child a nature-rich environment in which to grow up. Their long-awaited son is soon born, but coping with a newborn becomes a major challenge for the couple. At times, it seems that only the mother understands what the child needs. This is a funny and frightening story that explores the hidden emotions of motherhood in depth. Nature and the forest play an important role in the film, creating a distinctive, tense atmosphere, while its references lead to Finnish folklore. HÕFF, where the film had its Estonian premiere in the spring, describes it as the new arrival of Finnish folk horror. The film was directed by Hanna Bergholm and stars Seidi Haarla, known from “Compartment No. 6,” and Rupert Grint, aka Ron Weasley from the “Harry Potter” films. The film had its world premiere in the competition program of the Berlin Film Festival.
