Worlds that may have who-knows-what qualities, yet we are there too – makers, interpreters, observers, leaving our own traces in the lock of existence. Views, wishes, circumstances and much else gradually shape our story, our story in time, the traces we leave behind and can no longer amend once we have departed. Traces that remain of us for eternity. – Sven Grünberg The concert is connected with the composer’s milestone anniversary, but that is not the most important thing. More significant is the opportunity to look back on the path travelled, from the now-cult band Mess onward through electronic and film music to large acoustic ensembles. It is both a look into the past and a step into the future, as the programme naturally also includes new works. “Lugu” is the first work Sven Grünberg wrote, at the age of 15. In cooperation with the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra Concert with an interval, lasting approximately 2 hours 30 minutes.

Thu, 19 November at 19 Pärnu Concert Hall Fri, 20 November at 19 Vanemuine Concert Hall Sat, 21 November at 19 Estonia Concert Hall The Story of Sven Grünberg Vox Clamantis Tallinn Chamber Orchestra EMA (Estonian Electronic Music Society Ensemble) Valter Soosalu Ensemble Mess Riivo Kallasmaa (oboe) Conductor Jaan-Eik Tulve Programme: The works of Sven Grünberg: short forms, music from the collections "Hingus" I–II, the television series "Wikman's Boys", the feature film "Dead Mountaineer's Hotel", and more. When we close our eyes and look into our minds, we may see, hear, or otherwise perceive worlds—existing or non-existent. Worlds that might have any number of qualities, but where we still remain—as creators, interpreters, or observers, leaving our own traces in the lock of existence. Views, desires, circumstances, and much more create our story step by step—our story in time, leaving marks that can no longer be corrected once we have departed. Marks that remain with us for eternity. – Sven Grünberg While this concert marks a milestone birthday for the composer, its true significance lies in the opportunity to look back at a path that began with the now-cult ensemble Mess and moved through electronic and film music toward large acoustic ensembles. It is both a retrospective and a step forward, as the programme naturally includes new compositions. "Story" (Lugu) was the very first piece Sven Grünberg wrote, at the age of fifteen. In collaboration with the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra. Duration: appr. 2 h 30 min (with intermission)
