Mullingari kandis
Keskväljak 1, Pärnu, 80010 Pärnu maakond, Eesti
Around Mullingar Romantic drama Director: Madis Kalmet Author: John Patrick Shanley Set designer: Kristiina Põllu (Tartu New Theatre) Translator: Martin Algus Lighting designer: Ivar Piterskihh Composer: Peeter Konovalov (Ugala) On stage: Jaan Rekkor, Karin Tammaru, Sten Karpov, Carmen Mikiver Far away in the middle of Ireland, somewhere around Mullingar, live Rosemary and Anthony – two reclusive loners approaching middle age. Their family farms, old cattle farms, are so close together that you can hear from one shed when the kettle starts whistling in the other’s kitchen. And yet it is these very farms, cattle pens and family feud that have kept the two neighbours apart since childhood. At first glance, it may seem that Rosemary doesn’t think much of Anthony, though in reality she has been waiting for years for the shy man to wake from his strange stupor and notice more than the little patch of pasture at home. When Anthony’s elderly father one day makes it clear that he plans to leave the family farm to a distant relative instead of his eccentric son, Rosemary takes action, and Anthony too gradually discovers that the key to his happiness may be in the hands of the persistent and stubborn Rosemary.
