Norman the Conqueror English comedy   ENDLA AUDIENCE FAVOURITE 2023!   Director: Ingomar Vihmar Author: Alan Ayckbourn Set designer: Liina Unt Translators: Enn-Eerik Loorumm and Anne Lange Music: Ingomar Vihmar Lighting designer: Margus Vaigur   Cast: Jan Uuspõld (guest), Fatme Helge Leevald, Kleer Maibaum, Karin Tammaru, Priit Loog, Nils Mattias Steinberg   It is a balmy summer evening in an English country house. Tired of caring for her bedridden mother and of the fact that Tom, the simple-minded vet who lives nearby, fails to respond to her advances, Annie has decided to spend the weekend in a secluded hotel room somewhere. Not alone, as soon becomes clear, but on a little adventure with her brother-in-law Norman. Her brother Reg and sister-in-law Sarah have agreed to come and look after their mother in the meantime, and everything seems to be going according to plan. But Norman himself unexpectedly turns up, throwing carefully hidden plans into disarray. To the dismay of the rest of the party, he also intends to join them for every breakfast, lunch and dinner taking place that weekend. Norman is a character with appalling manners and unpredictable behaviour who constantly spoils everyone’s mood, and no one escapes his sharp tongue. He would be easy to hate, but Norman has something the other men in this company do not: an inexplicable, irresistible effect on women that silences reason and invites them to give themselves over without restraint. Things do not get any easier when Norman’s wife Ruth arrives. Despite her poor eyesight, she seems remarkably good at spotting other people’s faults and may be even more skilled at insulting people than Norman himself…
