Pärnu-Jaagupi kirik
Church · Pärnu mnt 45, Pärnu-Jaagupi alev
This single-nave Gothic-style building was constructed in 1534. Two arched vaults divide the space into three sections. The building is made of rubble stone; the tower section is made of limestone and covered with lime plaster. The altarpiece was painted by Ants Laikmaa; completed in 1901, it is a copy of von Gebhardt’s altarpiece “Christ on the Cross” in Tallinn Cathedral. The Baroque pulpit, completed in 1660, was made by Elert Thiele, and the organ was built at the Walcker workshop in Riga in 1895. The church is also known as a concert venue. The church is dedicated to the patron saint of pilgrims, the Apostle James the Greater, and is used by the Pärnu-Jakobi congregation.
