Võru’s main Orthodox church, dedicated to St Catherine as a nod to the town’s founder, Empress Catherine the Great. Completed in 1804, it features elegant neoclassical architecture with distinctly Russian curved steeples, a beautiful iconostasis, and the remains of martyr Nikolai Bežanitski. / Built in 1768, this superb baroque church is named after Russian empress Catherine the Great and the early Christian martyr. The interior features gilded icons and impressive fittings.
