Penijõe matkarada

Matsalu National Park is a well-known birdwatching area. Explore the local birdlife, wooded meadows and reed beds, floodplains, coastal pastures and alvars along the Penijõe hiking trail. The trail features an engaging smartphone game that helps you notice your surroundings and learn new things. There is a campfire and camping site, resting places, information boards and an observation tower along the trail. You can choose a hike of 3–7 km; allow 1.5–4 hours. You will definitely need rubber boots in spring and autumn, and it is a good idea to bring binoculars for birdwatching. The trail is difficult to traverse in winter. Dear visitor! Since the trail is in a grazing area, dogs are not allowed here – animals may attack them.
